Stockton’s Wing formed in 1977 in Ennis Co. Clare taking their name from a Bruce Springsteen song "backstreets". The band signed to Tara Records and released two critically acclaimed albums, Stockton’s Wing and Take a Chance. Originally a five piece until they released their first hit "Beautiful Affair ", from the ground breaking album "Light in the Western Sky" in 1982. was voted in the top 75 Irish songs in the history of RTE radio. The album , produced by PJ Curtis , also featured Australian Steve Cooney on bass guitar and didgeridoo. The success of the album brought the band to an international audience and they toured extensively throughout the eighties and early nineties.
During their career Stockton’s Wing appeared at all major folk festivals across the globe including Milwaukee Fest, Lisdoonvarna, Neon, performed at the Michael Jackson shows in Cork, appeared with Sammy Davis Junior at Lansdowne Road and were the dance band in the Jim Sheridan movie. The Field. The band have several albums recorded and Stockton’s Wing " Live" 1986 produced by Bill Whelan still remains a favourite with a new on line audience.
Line up is Paul Roche Flute whistle, Tommy Hayes Bodhrán and percussion, Mike Hanrahan Guitar and vocals, Enda Scahi Banjo and mandolin and Dessie Donnelly on Fiddle.
